Glucose 50% Intravenous Infusion

Glucose 50% Intravenous Infusion is a sterile solution of anhydrous glucose in water for injections, adjusted to pH 3.5-6.5 with sodium bicarbonate or hydrochloric acid.

Indication:
Glucose 50% Intravenous Infusion is strongly hypertonic and may be used to reduce increased cerebrospinal pressure and/or oedema due to delirium tremens or acute alcoholic intoxication. It may also be used to treat severe hypoglycaemia due to an excess of insulin and to provide concentrated calories in total parenteral nutrition regimens.
